Argeo is an offshore company servicing customers in the Oil and Gas, Marine Minerals and Renewables industry. The company currently operates two subsea vessels, Argeo Searcher and Argeo Venture, and has plans for further fleet expansion. The company operates an advanced fleet of seven AUV (Autonomous Underwater Vehicles) and is on a mission to transform the ocean surveying and inspection industry by utilizing autonomous surface and underwater robotics solutions integrated with proprietary sensor systems. We develop tools, methods, and web applications to allow our customers to make data-driven decisions based on the data we collect and process.
This is a field-based position with the workplace offshore or near-shore, internationally, according to project requirements. Project deployments can be expected to vary in duration and complexity. You will be responsible for operating the positioning software to assure the best data set provision in accordance with the SOW and procedures.
Key tasks and responsibilities:
- Responsible for the offshore survey data acquisition.
- Operate the vessel's surface and underwater positioning as well as the AUV mission planning software.
- Prepare the AUV mission planning and mission execution monitoring.
- Prepare the survey lines pre-plot (i.e. dwg, dxf, ASCII) according to the SOW, technical specifications, and quality procedures, and then input them into the navigation system software, as well as establish the line labelling with the personnel onboard.
- Implement the project-required equipment spread ensuring that all equipment stated on the mobilisation plan is complete, including valid calibration certificates.
- Execute the mission plan, including ascent and recovery tactics, defining the descent strategy, and developing the survey portion of AUV missions.
- Participate in all the activities of AUV launching, ballasting, recovery, etc. under AUV Supervisor indication.
- During AUV Supervised Mission, monitor AUV navigation, survey parameters, acoustic position quality, and vessel position relative to the AUV and AUV battery life.
- Ensure the daily handover of tasks and operations to the colleague on duty.
- Responsible to collect, order and format all the data recorded during the survey.
- Follow and understand procedures to check the concreteness of safe working procedures for role-related critical activities.
- Participates in the planned relevant courses for training, education, and information as required by the company.
Preferred competence and experience:
- Bachelor or Master in Surveying or Hydrographical survey (CAT A or B). Long experience can compensate for formal education.
- Two years’ experience in the survey offshore industry working in an online/acquisition environment or two years’ experience in AUV Surveying.
- English business language, verbal and written.
- Ability to work effectively in a multi-national and multi-cultural work environment.
- Knowledge of geodetic data, projections, national/international limits, navigation, positioning, and related software, including autonomous Vehicle operative software and commercial/Company SW for navigation.
- Knowledge of electronics, data communication links, and survey sensors setup and calibrations, including MBES, SSS, SBP, and magnetometer data.
- Knowledge of data acquisition, management systems, database usage, and data entry.
